from the Collections of the Prince of Liechtenstein
This exhibition offers the Czech public and visitors to Prague a first-time opportunity to view art treasures of the Neoclassical and Biedermeier eras, from the rich collections of Hans-Adam II, the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein, accompanied by loans from stateowned Moravian chateaus.
6 May – 17 October 2010
Superb portrait, landscape and genre paintings by noted Viennese artists – Heinrich Füger, Friedrich von Amerling, Peter Fendi and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller – attest to the role of the Princely Family as a leading patron, commissioner and collector of the arts. Around 300 works are showcased – paintings, sculpture, unique collections of Viennese hand-painted porcelain, architectural plans and furniture. The Prague exhibition also focuses on the castles in Moravia. Vedute, watercolour paintings and furniture, especially from the country seats at Valtice and Lednice, provide an in-depth look at the life-style of the Liechtenstein family.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of Prince Hans-Adam II von und zu Liechtenstein; Jan Fischer, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic; Přemysl Sobotka, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
Organised by the LIECHTENSTEIN MUSEUM in Vienna in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the South Moravian Region and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague.
