Innovation Day, May 21st 2010 Print

brochure-innovation-day-anThe first Innovation Day in Prague was in its inaugural year a meeting point not only for Czech businesses interested in innovation management, but also for participants from all over the world including representatives from Swiss companies. More than 100 entrepreneurs, experts in innovation management, as well as representatives of governmental and academic institutions discussed trends, best practices and their personal experience in innovation management. The Swiss-Czech Chamber of Commerce attended the event as one of the partners.

Among the participants were also representatives from among their members, such as ABB or Bossard and the Swiss Ambassador to the Czech Republic, h.e. Andre Regli. Representatives of these companies participated in the conference both as listeners and as speakers.

The main theme of 2010 was how radical innovation can help effectively to combat the current financial crisis. The workshops focused on actual topics such as mobility, the effectiveness of innovation spending or the future of interactive services. Those workshops were aiming at enabling participants to deepen their experience and know-how in the field of innovation management, and also in dealing with radical innovation.

The most important presentations next to the Key Note Speech of Prof. Oliver Gassmann from the Swiss university of St. Gallen were made by Barbara Frei, CEO of ABB Czech Republic, Jane Gilson, CEO of Microsoft Czech Republic as well as David Vrba, CEO of 3M CR. An open space result presentation in the afternoon allowed all participants to learn from workshops, which they were not able to actively participate in. This presentation was followed by a panel discussion with leading experts on entrepreneurship and competitiveness in Europe based on innovation. The conference was ending with an early evening reception, which gave the opportunity for informal networking. Participants were very satisfied with the know-how and networking opportunities during this event and the most common question was the date for the next Innovation Day in Prague which will take place on the 20th of May 2011.

Main organizer of the Innovation Day is the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management at the University of Economics Prague. Organizers as well are the Technical University in Prague with the research and development center for mobile applications as well as the Universities of Regensburg and Cottbus and Vodafone.
